Everyone wants the best for the furry companion. Making teats for your dog is just one of the many ways you can show how much you love and appreciate his company. Most dogs already dote on their owners quite a bit, so making natural dog treats can be your way to return the fondness. They are easy to make from ingredients you already have at home.
Natural and organic aren't the same thing, even though many people seem to interchange these two words. Natural treats are made from ingredients that aren't filled with tons of preservatives and extra fillers. These are easy to bake and many only take about 20 minutes to prepare. This is an excellent way to get rid of leftovers or that little bit of chicken that has been sitting in the freezer for months.
Three excellent recipes are provided for you to choose from. Surely there is at least one that your dog will be extremely thankful for.
Cottage Cheese Crunchies - Two-thirds cups of cottage cheese, Six teaspoons of milk, Six teaspoons of flaxseed oil, One egg yolk, Four cups of oatmeal. Blend all the ingredients and roll it into a dough ball. Make small balls of dough from this batch and be sure to make them the correct size for your dog. These need to be baked for 30 minutes and at 350 degrees. You can add in some meat to the recipe if you wish.
Roll the dough out until it is about a quarter of an inch thick, and then cut into small cookies. They can be any shape you want, but shouldn't be any bigger than 3 to 4 inches in size. Back them at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Tasty Peanut Butter Treats - One-half cup peanut butter, One and one-half cups of whole wheat flour, One and one-half white flour, Two tablespoons oil, One cup water. The peanut butter, water, and oil should be mix thoroughly first, then the flour is added in a cup at a time.
Cottage Cheese Treats - Four cups oatmeal, One egg yolk, Six teaspoons flaxseed oil, Six teaspoons milk, Two-third cups cottage cheese. Mix everything together very well and then form dough into small balls. Be sure to make them bite-sized for your type of dog. Bake these for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. You can easily add in some bacon or ham if you wish to change this to a meaty recipe.
Even if you aren't an avid baker, making natural dog treats is very easy. You can use up small bits of meat that have been in the freezer for many months or even leftovers from the fridge. Your dog will definitely thank you for the wonderful creations you've made. It should also be comforting to you as well, knowing that you made something healthy for your beloved pet. Making your own treats also saves quite a bit of money, especially if you have more than one dog.
